Accesing Gmail Via Outlook

It is very simple to access your Gmail account in Outlook. You can do this using the POP3 server. You can specify if you want to keep the mail read in Outlook in your Gmail account or delete it. The following steps will guide you as to how this can be done :

· 1st Step :

TuTurn on POP access in your Gmail account.

· Open Outlook and select “Tools/E-mail Accounts”.

· Select the option “Add a new E-mail account” from the new window that open up.

· Click on “Next”. Choose POP3 as the server type and click on “Next”.

· Enter your Gmail account details in the internet E-mail settings (POP3) dialog:

2nd Step :

a. Put in your full name under the option “Your Name”.

b. Type in your Gmail E-mail address under “E-mail address”.

c. Type your full Gmail address under the “User Name”.

d. Type your Gmail password under the option “Password”.

e. Type pop.gmail.com under “incoming mail server (POP3)”.

f. Type smtp.gmail.com under “Outgoing mail server (SMTP)”.

3rd Step :

· Click on “More settings”.

· Go to the “Outgoing server tab”.

· Make sure “My outgoing server” (SMPT) authentication is checked.

· Select the option “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.

· Go to the “Advanced tab”.

· Make sure “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)” is checked under both incoming server (POP3) and outgoing server (SMTP).

· Type 465 under Outgoing server (SMTP). Check if the number under incoming server (POP3) is changed to 995 automatically; if not then enter manually there.

Click on “OK”. The click on “Next” and finally on “Finish”.
