Improve your cell phone signal

Your phone and your network could interfere with each other if they're both operating at 5.8GHz, but you're in luck. Devices that operate at 5.8GHz typically enjoy a lot more elbow room than devices that operate at 2.4GHz. That's because 802.11a networking gear, which uses the 5.8GHz band, has eight non overlapping channels to choose from for indoor use (and four more for outdoor point-to-point connections). In contrast, 2.4GHz 802.11g devices have only three non overlapping channels. The extra wiggle room in the 5.8GHz band makes it much easier to keep devices operating at that frequency out of each other's way. The trick is to use separate non overlapping channels for your network and your phone. Check the user manual for your wireless router or access point for instructions on how to adjust the channel of your wireless network.
