Keep Shutdown, Restart and Logoff Shortcuts on Desktop in Windows XP

If you want to have shortcuts on the Desktop for Shutdown, Restart and logoff.

Right-Click on the Desktop and make a new shortcut by selecting New > Shortcut. Then in the Location of the item box, enter :

For Shutdown : "shutdown.exe -s -t 00" (without Quotes), where "00" is delay in seconds, you can increase it. You will then asked to select the name : Give the Name as "Shutdown" (without Quotes).

For Restart : "shutdown.exe -r -t 00" (without Quotes). Then you will be asked to select the name : Give the Name as "Restart" (without Quotes).

For Log Off : "shutdown.exe -1 -t 00" (without Quotes). Then you will be asked to select the name : Give the Name as "Log Off" (without Quotes). Here fast user Switching is also possible for that "Rundll32.exe User32dll, LockWorkStation" (without Quotes).

After creating the shortcut, you can change the icon assigned to it by right-clicking on the shortcut and selecting Properties. The window that comes up next has a "Change Icon" option, which is easy to use.
